ABOUT
Since our first release in 1999, Sounds Are Active has become a home for jazz, improvisational, ambient, experimental, folk, hip-hop and electronic artists alike. Recent and upcoming releases from I Heart Lung, Anthony Shadduck Quartet (with Nels Cline), The Weird Weeds, ellul, C.J. Boyd, Bizzart, and Create (!) (with Raymond Raposa of Castanets) place Sounds Are Active at the vanguard of progressive music.
Sounds Are Active is proud to have worked with such gifted visual artists as Jonathan Dueck, Tim McMullen, Paul Goode, Jason Munn, Grady McFerrin and Chuck Anderson (no pattern). We have also been honored to collaborate on releases with Asthmatic Kitty, Sounds Familyre , Pete Records and Joyful Noise.
Sounds Are Active is based in Long Beach, CA. and is run by Chris Schlarb.
