Here's the presumably oft-asked questions and their hopefully helpful answers:
So what exactly do I get?
6 Monthly Downloadable EP's: One each month from June through December 2005 (featuring releases from Xn./Deneir, MakeShift:Shelter, therefore, Philippians, Golden Poultry Error (with Soul-Junk) and more.
3 Physical CD's: (which are subject to change): the Electric iLL/Vla Hemia split, Strata, and the forthcoming release from Create (!)
1 DVD: Xn.+- right on delay (available ONLY through the subscription package)
1 Bonus CD: (available ONLY through the subscription package)
What if I move, change my address or email?
No problem. Please just drop us a line at verb@soundsareactive.com with your new information and a subject line that reads something like this: subscription change
How much is shipping and handling?
$0.00. No shipping or handling costs at all. They are included in the price of your subscription.
Where are the downloadable albums? Will I be notified when a new one is released
Each downloadable album will be available through the Sounds Are Active website. Here is a tentative schedule of releases:
Xn./Deneir- flowers (eating) words (June 1st, 2005)
MakeShift:Shelter- A MakeShift EP (July 1st, 2005)
Golden Poultry Error (with Soul-Junk)- s/t (August 1st, 2005)
therefore- L.G.F.C.A. (September 1st, 2005)
Christopher A. Scott- Goes On Rumpspringa (October 1st, 2005)
Philippians- EP (November 1st, 2005)
In addition to this schedule we plan on sending out email reminders and announcements on new and perhaps surprise releases.
When will you ship everything?
The exclusive Xn.+ DVD, right on delay will ship within the week of your subscription. Each subsequent physical release will ship once we get them in stock. Here is a tentative schedule for the physical releases:
Various- Strata- A Young Person's Guide To Music (July 19th, 2005)
Electric iLL/Vla Hemia (August 16th, 2005)
Create (!) (September 13th, 2005)
the bonus disc will ship in October/November 2005
You just released a record that isn't listed on the subscription package! Will you send it to me?
Sure. If you order it. It is entirely possible that there will be additional releases from Sounds Are Active this year however any additional CD or vinyl releases not listed herein will not be sent to fulfill your subscription.
What if I subscribe later this year? How long do I have to subscribe?
You can subscribe anytime from June 1st to December 1st, 2005 and still receive all of the package contents. After December 1st, 2005 the 2005 Subscription Package will be removed from the catalog.
Can I get album XYZ all by itself?
Other than the Xn.+ DVD, right on delay and the bonus disc all of the releases in the subscription will be available outside of the subscription.
I don't want album XYZ can I subscribe and get something else?
No. In much the same way that one cannot choose which issues of a magazine they'd like to receive we're not able to substitute albums in the subscription package.
Can you send me the downloadable albums on a CD?
Unfortunately we cannot. However, if you'd like feel free to download them or have someone else do it for you and burn them or transfer them to whatever media (iPod, etc.) you wish.
Are the downloadable albums DRM protected? What is the kps rate, etc? Will they play on my WinAmp, iTunes, iPod, etc.
All of our downloads are available in mp3 format and will play on any platform that supports mp3's. Also there is no DRM (of Digital Rights Management) encryption on any of our downloads. All downloadable albums will be available in 192 kps encoding.
Aren't the downloadable albums free whether you subscribe or not?
Yup. They are technically included in the subscription package but are free to anyone, subscription or not. Think of it this way, everyone can enjoy the music however only some wish to support it. We would rather that everyone be able to listen first and decide if they enjoy it first. Also the cost of the downloadable albums are not really factored into the price of the subscription, 1 DVD, 4 CD's and free shipping pretty much cover the $35 or $50 fee.
Why does the subscription cost $15 more if you live outside the US or Canada?
Obviously the main factor here are the shipping cost. We are cutting it very close as it is and are hoping that the cost won't prohibit anyone from subscribing. At the very least you'll have only one transaction and you'll receive music for the rest of the year.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Technically yes, however we will not be able to issue a refund for your $35 or $50 subscription fee. |
